frances elizabeth torrance was born on the 14/09/1923 to ernest robert torrance and frances louisa lickfold in poplar london she was the eldest daughter followed 8 years later by edna torrance and a brother sidney torrance in 1933 sadly sidney passed away at just a few weeks old. when frances was 16 years of age war broke out her mum and younger sister where evacuated but she chose to stay in london with her father. frances met joseph mcewen in 1941 frances and joseph were married on the 24th april 1943 at st marks church in bow they move around to different houses but always stayed in the east end. in 1944 their eldest daughter patricia was born followed 5 years later by twin daughters gillian and jennifer sadly jennifer was stillborn five years later their son peter was born.between patricia and the birth of the twins they moved to dagenham essex sadly gillian passed away in 1959 aged 9 years in 1962 their first granddaughter teresa was born they brought teresa up as their own daughter over the coming years more grandchildren were born. in 2003 they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary surrounded by their family which had grown in numbers to be 6 grandchildren,14 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren frances was widowed on the 19th of may 2003 when joseph passed away after a short illness they were a devoted couple who despite lifes ups and downs loved each other very much frances went to disneyland paris in 2005 with pat,pete terri and les she enjoyed the holiday very much even wanting to go back on one of the rides in 2007/8 she suffered a stroke which left her with limited mobility in her arm then things got worse and she could no longer do things for herself she was cared for at home by terri and pat. in 2010 she was moved out of her bungalow and moved in with her daughter on the 15th february 2011 she sadly passed away peacefully in her sleep aged 87 years frances funeral was held on the 7th march 2011 at weeley crematorium joseph travelled on that final journey with her and they will then be interred in the cemetary together as they had both wished in life and eternal peace together
